Karol Bak (Kolo, Polonia, 1961) trabaja como pintor, ilustrador y diseñador gráfico. De 1984 a1989 estudió en la Academia Estatal de Bellas Artes (ASP) en Poznan, en el departamento gráfico. Termina sus estudios con dos valiosos diplomas, con el profesor Tadeusz Jackowski’s en estudio gráfico y con el profesor Jarosław Kozłowski’s en el estudio de dibujo. Tras sus inicios con grabados, gráficos y dibujo, a mediados de los 90 comienza a pintar con óleo sobre lienzo.

Karol Bak es un admirador de la mujer. El es un glorificador de la feminidad. Sus pinturas captan una forma fenomenal y cautivadora de la belleza. Parece que su deseo sea revelar sus almas, y así, mediante diferentes métodos, examina las partes más profundas de su naturaleza. Sus heroínas fluyen en los sueños, aparecen en el inmenso espacio; ellas son ángeles, perlas divinas, la personificación de los elementos; asesinadas reencarnadas (Judyta, Salome) e incluso la muerte (Thanatos).

Pero en Karol Bak la idea no es mostrar simplemente el lado físico de las mujeres, sino también su forma espiritual, el carácter sensible, amoroso, tierno de corazón y muy emotivo. En otras palabras, la mujer es variable y casi imperceptible.  Por otra parte el artista a su manera, se aprovecha de la tradición para sus necesidades. En la mayoría de sus obras muestra una elegante persona que se caracteriza por sus ropas y, últimamente por la ampliación de la cabeza al conceder a sus pinturas una aureola que las hace más místicas y misteriosas. Hay una belleza innegable en sus pinturas que es resaltada con esa faceta mística que rodea la figura femenina, así, todo el conjunto queda envuelto en una halo fantástico que explota en la visión del espectador.

Karol Bąk (born in 1961), lives and works in Poland. He works as a painter, illustrator and drawer. Betweem 1984 and 1989 he studied at the State School of Fine Arts (now ASP) in Poznan, at the Graphic Art Department. He completed his studies with two prized diplomas, at prof. Tadeusz Jackowski’s graphic studio, and at prof. Jarosław Kozłowski’s drawing studio. He won awards like een award for graphics “Diploma 89”, Torun 1989 and the award/Jan Wroniecki medal, “XXI Post-competition exhibition – The best graphic art and drawing of the year”. After the completion of his stydy, he first dealt with copperplate engraving and drawing. For the next few years he was busy with designing and took part in his artistic travels. In the second half of the 90s he started to paint on canvas, and from 2000 he has been engaged in it professionally. The artist’s works combine the following subject cycles as: “Sailing-ship”, “Dialogs”, “Cocoons”, “Aureoles”, “Four elements”, “Judyta and Salome”. His works were displayed on a dozen or so individual exhibitions, and on group exhibitions, mainly in Poland, Germany, and Holland. Nowadays he deals with easel painting and wall-painting, applied graphics, and also designing and interior decoration.

Karol Bąk is an admirer of women. He is a glorifier of womanhood. He paints captivatingly beautiful phenomenal shapes. He seems to desire to reveal their souls. Therefore, by various methods he examines the deepest parts of their nature. His seraphic heroines flow in the dream, appear in immense space; they are angels, pearl-divers, personification of elements and winds; incarnated murders (Judyta, Salome) and even death (Thanatos). Karol Bąk makes himself extremely great task for his intention is not to show women only from their physical side. However, he is aware of the fact that the woman is noticed not only as a body-subject from a point of view, but also as spiritual-physical human being, loving, delicate, and tender-hearted to utmost emotions. In other words, woman is variable and almost imperceptible. The artist wishes to show the woman’s nature throughout her body and more and more limited accessories.
